Empowering African Youth STEM Center

Support Our Work

Despite Sub-Saharan Africa’s immense wealth in natural and mineral resources, which fuel the economies of the U.S., China, and Europe, millions of K–12 students across the region still lack access to basic STEM education. This critical gap stems from limited government investment in STEM and the lack of political courage to build local manufacturing industries. As a result, communities remain unable to produce even basic technological tools such as water filtration systems, wheelchairs, or mobile phones. The paradox is stark: while Africa drives global economic growth through its resources, its own people are often left disconnected from the innovations those resources enable.

Empowering African Youth believes that the continent’s future depends on cultivating a strong, inclusive STEM workforce. We are committed to preparing African youth to become the next generation of innovators and leaders who will transform Africa’s natural, mineral, and agricultural wealth into sustainable solutions that uplift communities and drive progress from within.

Together, we can unlock the full potential of Africa’s youth, ensuring they are not just contributors to global innovation but architects of their own future.
Our STEM Objectives:

Our mission is to inspire and empower K–12 students, both girls and boys, across Africa with the STEM skills and tools needed to address real-world challenges in their local communities.

We provide rigorous, engaging, and hands-on STEM activities and workshops designed to:

  • Spark curiosity

  • Build confidence

  • Strengthen problem-solving skills

Through these experiences, we aim to cultivate a generation of innovative thinkers and changemakers equipped to lead and thrive in a rapidly evolving world.

Our STEM Programs

STEM K5

  • Designed for K–5 students, this program aims to ignite curiosity and foster a love for STEM from an early age.

  • Students gather at our STEM Centers every Wednesday for a 60-minute workshop filled with fun, discovery, and learning.

African Middle School Girls STEM

  • Systemic gender bias continues to limit educational opportunities for girls in Africa.

  • At Empowering African Youth, we believe African girls are equally capable of excelling in STEM.

  • This program, tailored for 6th–8th grade girls, aims to spark curiosity, build confidence, and equip them with critical thinking and problem-solving skills to tackle real-life challenges in their communities.

STEM Problem-Solvers

  • This program is for high school students (grades 9–12) of all genders.

  • It empowers youth with advanced STEM knowledge and practical skills to develop innovative solutions to the pressing problems facing African populations.

Join Our Global STEM Project!

We’re excited to offer a unique opportunity for K–12 students in the U.S. to collaborate with peers across Africa through our Global STEM Exchange.

  1. This innovative program connects students via live Zoom sessions on a weekly or biweekly basis, where they engage in:

    • Collaborative research projects

    • Cross-cultural presentations

    • Real-world problem solving

Students will explore STEM topics together, share ideas, and build global friendships—all while developing critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills.

Be part of a movement that empowers young minds to innovate, connect, and make a difference—locally and globally.
